High School Football: Top Games for Week Two

Senior quarterback Damani Scott leads a Mansfield team primed to pull off an upset tonight.

It is week two on the Massachusetts high school football schedule and there are some great games on the docket. Here are the top games you should keep an eye for Week 2.

#1 Everett at #7 Mansfield: The Hornets think they have a Super Bowl caliber team. Tonight’s game against Everett will go a long way in determining just how good the senior laden Hornets are. They will have their hands full with Everett’s Mike Sanistril and Issac Seide.

#17 Natick at #8 Brockton: The Redhawks suffered a tough loss to Needham last week but there is no rest for the weary as they face a Brockton team coming off a big home against Lexington.

#12 Central Catholic at #5 St. John’s Prep: The Prep has a lot of experienced players coming back but they will be challenged by a Central Catholic team that has good enough talent to win in Danvers. Getting off to a good start offensively will be key for Brian St. Pierre’s team.

Springfield Central at St. John’s Shrewsbury: Springfield Central got worked over last week by a talented Lincoln-Sudbury team. It won’t be any easier this week as they face a St. John’s team still reeling from a shootout loss to CM last week. This is a must win for both schools.

#25 Barnstable at #11 Braintree: Braintree has been getting a lot of pre-season hype. We will find out just good the Wamps are when Barnstable and dual threat quarterback Matt Petercuskie come to town on Saturday morning. If Briantree beats Barnstable, they are legit.
