The Eagles host N.C State today for homecoming. The Eagles are coming off a bye and they will be without quarterback Anthony Brown who is done for the season with a knee injury. Sophomore Dennis Grosel will get the start and is expected to be the starting quarterback moving forward.
The bye week gave the Eagles an opportunity to acclimate Grosel to the offense full time while working to improve a porous run defense.
Here are three keys to the game for the Eagles.
1. Get Grossel off to a good start: Offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian must get quarterback Denis Grosel off to a good start offensively. Look for B.C to emphasize moving the pocket for him and three step drop pass plays as the Eagles try to get their new starting quarterback into a rhythm.
2. Play better defensively: I know it sounds simple, but the Eagles need to play better defensively. N.C State has had their struggles offensively. If the Eagles can get consistent pressure and take advantage of a N.C State weak offensive line, they could get some stops and help the offense.
3. Make good situational decisions: Coach Steve Addazio faced some heat after the Eagles 27-24 home loss to Wake Forest regarding some of the decisions he made in that game. Today’s game should be close. Knowing that, good decisions at key moments of the game will make a difference today.
Final score: Boston College 28 N.C State 24: The Wolfpack’s record is a bit deceiving but they are more than good enough to come into the Heights and win this game. If Grosel can get off to a good start and the Eagles defense can get some early stops, B.C will be in good position to win this game.
