The Eagles travel to Death Valley tonight to battle the number four team in the country, the Clemson Tigers. Clemson is a national title contender as usual but the Tigers have been inconsistent at times offensively this season.
Clemson has a lot of skill led by quarterback Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne and wide receiver Tee Higgins. Despite their struggles at times, this team has the ability to make big plays and score fast.
Here are three keys to the game for the Eagles.
1. Shorten the game: The Eagles need to pound the football and shorten the game. Despite Trevor Lawrence’s problems in recent weeks, the Eagles don’t want to get into a shootout with Clemson. They are too good. Run the football, limit their possessions and keep this game close.
2. Tackling in space: Clemson is athletic. They have a lot of talented receivers that can make plays in space. Boston College’s linebackers and secondary need to tackle well in space and not allow Clemson’s athletes to make plays in space.
3. Limit the big plays: Look, Clemson is good. They are going to make big plays in this game. If the Eagles can limit those big plays, then they will give themselves a chance at winning game. If not, the B.C defense is in for a long night.
Final score: Clemson 42 Boston College 21: The Eagles can keep this game close but they don’t have the necessary talent to go into Death Valley and win this football. Boston College will play hard but they don’t have enough talent to pull off the upset.
