Boston College Preview: Boston College Eagles (5-5) at Notre Dame Fighting Irish (8-2)

The Holy War is upon us. The Eagles need to win out in order to secure a bowl bid. Boston College has ruined many great seasons in South Bend. Notre Dane is not a national title contender this season but they are still a good team. A win in the South Bend would be huge.

Here are three keys to the game for the Eagles.

1. Limit the big plays: The Eagles defense has given up a lot of big plays this season. With the secondary banged up, it is important that the front seven gets pressure and protects the secondary. If they don’t, Notre Dame will make big plays.

2. The Dillon and Bailey Show: Boston College should run the ball 60 times in this game. Chew clock and keep the ball away from Ian Book and company.

3. Bracket and banjo Claypool and Kmet:The Eagles need to double Notre Dame’s top two targets in the passing game, Chase Claypool and Cole Kmet. Both are big targets that can create match up problems. Double teaming them is could be tough given the Eagles injury issues in the secondary however defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan may not have a choice.

Final score: Notre Dame 35 Boston College 17: I think Eagles will find a way to hang around in this game. Notre Dame has put up big numbers offensively the past two weeks. If Boston College can run the football and the defense rises to the occasion, there is no reason why they can’t compete in this game.
