First year Boston College offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti has a lot of quality skill pieces at his disposal. Aside from transfer quarterback Phil Jurkovec, Cignetti has an explosive receiving corp, one of the best tight ends in the country and a deep stable of running backs to work with.

Wide receivers Kobay White, Zay Flowers, Jaelin Gill, Ethon Williams and freshmen Taji Johnson give the Eagles a deep, talented and versatile receiving corp. Cignetti is going to run a pro-style offense so he and the offensive staff will utilize this group in a variety of ways. From perimeter screens to fly sweeps, this group will touch the ball in a variety of ways.

Replacing A.J Dillon is virtually impossible but David Bailey and Travis Levy are talented, experienced backs who should add balance and toughness to this Eagles offense. Bailey rushed for 844 yards and 7 touchdowns last season. The junior running back has the potential to breakout this season as the featured running back in the Eagles offense.

Redshirt Freshmen Pat Garwo III could also be in the team’s plans as a change of pace scat back. At 5-9 216, Garwo is low to the ground and runs physical for his size.

Freshmen Andre Hines from Erasmus Hall in New York is a big back. At 6-2 215, he could get some carries this season and could be a good complement to Bailey, Levy and Garwo.

Boston College is always deep at tight end and this season should be no different. Hunter Long is back and primed for a big season both as an in-line and detached tight end. At 6-5 253, Long can generate vertical match ups and be a factor in the red zone.

Converted defensive end Joey Luchetti makes the move over to offense and he will compete with Marshfield’s Danny Dalton for the U or second tight end spot. Both Luchetti and Dalton are 6-4 plus, good athletes and they can also create match ups like Hunter Long can. The Eagles will still utilize a fair amount of 12 and 13 personal so all three tight ends should get on the field.

The Eagles have one of the best offensive lines in the country returning. When you put it all together, this offense has the potential to be very good.

It will take time but the Eagles offense has the potential to be special.
